...we had 16 people show-up so that was great as they certainly had a lot of work for us. We were asked to clean and organize their offices as well as help them start sanding and painting. The office is now about 70% complete. (A Loving Spoonful)

We worked in teams of 2 tackling each hallway and when one team finished their hallway we moved onto the next team and helped them with theirs. While we worked, the residents of the home wandered in and out and told us what a great job we were doing. One of the support workers worked along side of us sharing stories of the hardships the women have faced in their lives, the circumstances that lead them to the home and some of the successes they have witnessed by provided a home to these women. At the end of the day, we gathered together and one of the support workers thanked us for our help. She reminded us that the women in the home have come from sleeping under bridges, in crack houses, in their car or from abusive relationships. She helped us understand that a bright fresh coat of paint in the hallways of their home adds warmth and pride to those living in it. She truly made each of us feel that we had made a difference in others' lives by volunteering that day! It was a great experience and I was proud that we, as TELUS team members, were making a difference! (Womens Resource Society of the Fraser Valley)

By the end of our day each of the 8 shelter dogs had long and enjoyable walks, a bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, teeth and coat brushing and an incredible amount of attention and love. The cats also got their fair share of grooming, cuddling and nail trims as did the rabbits and other small animals. Also, the towels, plastic bags, food and goodies you collected and donated will greatly contribute to the comfort, health and well being of the shelter animals. (Burnaby SPCA)

It gets even better, following the TDOS: 3 people have signed up to become regular volunteers at the shelter & have also joined our TELUS Team (Shelter Buddies); both a cat & a dog were adopted by TELUS volunteers and one of the volunteers has also come up with a super idea to run a SPCA Food drive for the shelter. The effect has been super and as I mentioned to the regular volunteers - the ripple effect is going continue to bring good things to the animals. (Burnaby SPCA)

Our team went out to the RMH had a really great day volunteering. We helped them clean & tidy for the fall, and get a few of the guest rooms up to par for new families, we met a few families that were staying there too. (Ronald McDonald House)

The TELUS team and their families learned more about what this vital organization does in our communities, then assisted in a variety of ways. We primarily sorted through a mountain of food and diaper donations, sorting and packing the equivalent of approximately 10 skids. It was rewarding to hear that this was the equivalent to feeding 800 people! (Greater Vancouver Food Bank)

The folks from the GVRD were great; they ensured we properly understood the impact that the Scotch Broom was having on the area and demonstrated the correct extraction technique. After we finished one area, they had us load into a bin, a massive pile of Scotch Broom that had been pulled about 6 months ago. We all got wet and dirty and there were smiles on everyone's faces! (Pacific Parklands)

Kudos to all team members and your families for a job well done. Despite the freezing rain and wind, the deafening balloon air-pump, we have hundreds of balloons blown up, tied with ribbons and bagged. Our team and family members have exhibited the 'best of the best' teamwork in completing the assignment. I think the event went smoothly and we have everything we need to complete our assignment. Also, hats off to those who ventured out in the rain to hand out event programs to onlookers. (Word on the Street Festival)

...both the people receiving the lunch and the UGM staff were so appreciative! It really humbled me! (Union Gospel Mission)

I wanted to take this time to send a huge thank you out to Telus for providing us with many wonderful volunteers that is an amazing job this past weekend. With their help, we were able to get a lot of work done that will help us move forward into the future. We look forward in continuing this relationship in the future.

From my perspective the day went off fantastic and the participants were very keen indeed. Folks were there early (I actually hadnt even set up the signs yet) and were raring to go- they helped move the plants down from storage and planted them much faster than I expected- two hours and they were largely done. I know Bob Gunn from BCIT was very appreciative of the help and I was extremely pleased we could pull it together. On a related note I very seldom have help putting everything away and packing up at the end, which your group did and it was hugely appreciated!... Overall we were very excited to be a part of it and your group was really exceptional in contribution and attitude. We look forward to next year...

We are so fortunate to have the continued support of Telus through activities like Telus Day of Service and Telus Tuesdays sponsored meals. Our kitchen staff was so thankful to have your help today. Please bring your group back to help serve one of the Telus Tuesday meals on our daily food line so you can see first hand how thankful the people of the downtown eastside are for Telus' continued assistance.

We are thrilled with the results achieved on that cold and blustery Saturday. From our point of view it was a very successful day and we hope you enjoyed yourselves. You have helped to bring nesting habitat for birds and small animals back to the beach! We actually counted and measured the amount of broom removed and the Telus Team results were stellar. In all we removed over 800 stems and over 30 cubic feet (enough to fill a city bus) of that invasive weed.
